I had a great year at the shows in 2014, I continue to double mate my SLW..which means more work and a bigger feed bill, but the great lacing I am getting on the pullets makes it worth it.

another 2012 Pullet
In a normal hatching season I will hatch and grow out 100 SLW chicks, however in a moment of weakness in 2013 I decided to grow out over 300 SLW large fowl chicks, trust me you don't want to ever do that. I did get a nice bump in the quality of my birds by doing it....I ended up keeping 5 cockerels and 10 pullets from the 300, I have to admit they are the best I have ever raised.
I am concentrating on getting wider heads, wider bodies and size on them in 2014
I will be selling SLW chicks this hatching season (Jan-Mar 2014), I don't plan on taking chick orders at this time and will probably list the chicks on featherauction.com
